Friends of Brentwood Theatre Brentwood Theatre is a professional, community theatre based in the town centre, giving access to professional and non-professional performers. Musicals, plays, recitals, drama, comedy and children’s shows are all represented at this unique and friendly venue, with a different show nearly every week. Brentwood Theatre is an independent theatre, owned and maintained by a charitable trust, and is one of only a few theatres in this country not to receive any regular arts funding. Therefore all of our money has to be raised through fees earned by hiring the Theatre to local non-professional companies, and savings made by running the Theatre with a huge team of unpaid volunteers. The Theatre was opened in 1993 following a major campaign run by a magnificent committee of local people dedicated to seeing a proper performing arts venue built for the people of Brentwood. Without any financial support from the local authorities, a site was secured and over £200,000 raised by donation from individuals and major independent trusts. The Theatre continues to be booked many months in advance, and its popularity is constantly growing. In almost constant use, the venue is proving to be a great success. The Theatre would never have been built without the support of numerous individuals, many of whom remain committed to us as Friends of Brentwood Theatre. If you wish to support us as we continue to provide a service to the people of Brentwood, you may wish to become a Friend. In return, we shall issue you with a personalised card that permits you to purchase tickets with a 10% reduction. And that reduction not only applies to your own ticket, but also to any you buy at the same time. Furthermore, the value of your donation can be increased if you are taxpayer, simply by signing the additional box that forms part of the form.
